We are celebrating on spinster.xyz! Well done, a great victory. And a huge encouragement to the many women who never went to University (including me) who've always considered the OU as an alternative.
I can’t tell you how fantastic I felt on hearing the news of your tribunal win. I followed your case via Twitter tribunal notes as I was not able to attend the court. As the days moved on it felt like a win could be the only outcome.
My hope is that you can go from strength to strength in joy and that the OU takes serious steps to remedy the gender bullying environment exposed throughout the tribunal process.
Wishing you both privately and professionally every success going forward .
As a GC/RF I thank you for your stand to uphold and defend womens/girls hard won rights.
Serious congratulations Jo! I’m an OU postgrad at the moment and I’ve always loved the OU for being different, but I confess that these last few years there are topics that I know to avoid because I don’t want the gender war spilling into my studies. I’m appalled at the way you were treated but sadly, I can’t pretend I’m surprised. I am glad that you struck a cord and let them know it’s not okay to be quiet and let the bullies bully, for fear of them targeting you if you do what you are legally obliged to do and protect your staff and students. I’m glad to see that TERF is considered an insult when used in the context it so often is - I have a feeling that will be cited a lot!
Massive congratulations again, to everyone involved - so often the process is the punishment but it is good to see a happy ending to this story, and a warning to others out there - we won’t tolerate this anymore!
I hope you had a nice drink of something with fizz, and I wish you the best going forward ❤️
Enormous congrats, Jo. I’ve been supporting you from afar and followed along on Tribunal Tweets. Thank you for persevering, we all owe you a debt of gratitude.
Congratulations on your victory. I read the judgment and was appalled at how you were treated. Academia (not just the OU) should be embarrassed and ashamed that this kind of bullying goes on.
I remember the founding of the OU. Family members benefited from it. Even beyond any recompense to you Jo and what the case means for women’s rights and academic free speech, you have done a huge service to the OU as an institution, drawing a line of what acceptable academic conduct is.
Thank you. You have struck an important blow for freedom, on behalf of women who have repeatedly been bullied, disbelieved and expected to put up with gender ideology in recent years. Shame on your former colleagues.
Words cannot express how happy I am for you and how relieved I am for women and sanity as we take another step forward on the road to reason and facts. Well done, Jo.
